The inaugural Fools Gold 420 bikepacking event departed from Maryborough at 8am on Saturday 22nd April. Almost 30 participants started, and approximately half completed the 420km event through Central Victoria in times ranging from 27 hours to 4 days.

Is tell EVERYONE about Bridge Club!
If you’ve dropped into the store, or kept an eye on our social media, over the last twelve months you’ll have noticed a growing number of Surly Bridge Clubs getting around. And with good reason. After initially being underwhelmed by it on paper prior to it’s release, the Bridge Club really has proved itself as an extremely versatile, great value and super fun option for so many different kinds of riding.
Of all the styles of bike we are lucky enough to have on the floor at Commuter the dropbar, dirt capable bike is probably our favourite, and certainly the most versatile. As a result we’ve tried to stock a LOT of options in this style of bike.
To say we’ve been excited for the arrival of Shimano GRX is a massive understatement. For those that have not come across it yet, GRX is Shimano’s new groupset designed for adventure road and gravel bikes.

We’ve just received a size run of the new Type 4.1a framesets. Its back in the OG Orange with some subtle graphics changes. The main difference is flat mount front and rear braking, bringing it inline with road groupset offerings. Get in contact if you’re keen to get a build together or read on for a bit of inspiration.

The all new Surly Midnight Special! – a Road Plus bike designed to provide comfort and speed on those all-day rides that extend well beyond fresh pavement. It rides like a cloud on smooth pavement. but that’s expected. Any bike can do that. Where it truly shines is on pot-holed, deteriorating pavement and the occasional long stretch of gravel. The Midnight Special’s 650b Road Plus tires eat up road chatter and absorb all the bumps in the road like the champion it was designed to be.

We’re excited to announce that we’re adding Kona to our stable of bikes at Commuter Cycles. We’ve been following them closely for the last few years as more and more of their bikes have been released in high grade steel, with allowances for generous tyre sizes – two qualities that we look for in a bike. Both go a long way to making a bike fun, comfortable, and durable.
