MKS are best known for their high quality track pedals popular with Keirin racers of Japan, more recently they have brought back some old favorites as well as introducing some new casual platform pedal offerings.
I recently tested out the new MKS Allways EZY pedals on a bikepacking trip to the Flinders ranges. The large platform provided ample support on the rough terrain and made some of the hike a bike sections that little bit easier in hiking boots as opposed to the stiff soled SPD shoes i was accustomed to. The Alloy platform is incredibly light and the bearings are the usual high quality we have come to expect from MKS. They held up to the abuse very well and would be just as at home in the city as on the trails.

These proved tough enough that they will be part of my kit for an upcoming trip to South America.
Another popular pedal with a big platform is the Lambda. These pedals resemble a Vikings battle axe and offer incredible grip for soft soled shoes. Perfect for those who want to wear their favorite sneakers everywhere.
The BM-7 is a reproduction of the 1980’s BMX classic, using the same tooling from 30 years ago. These are a great addition to any city bike or those wanting a splash of colour. The smaller platform suits those with smaller feet and can also accommodate toe clips.
The EZY range are a quick release offering of all the same models above but pedals can be removed without tools in seconds through the use of a quick release system. This is particularly handy for those who like to travel with their bikes. I found this incredibly useful on the recent trip to the Flinders, both for boxing the bike for the plane and also fitting it in the back of the hire car with 2 other bikes and bodies.
