How 20’000km on the bike helped me believe in Magic

Frazer has just completed an around the world on a bike tour having ridden from his homeland of Scotland back to Melbourne where we helped build his bike a bit over 18 months ago. He’s only in town for a few weeks so we’ve taken the opportunity to get him to give a talk on his travels, this should be a highly entertaining talk full of some great stories and insights from a life on the road.

Join us at Inner North Brewing on Wednesday October 4th at 7pm for a fun filled talk of bicycle adventure stoke! Get your tickets here. https://events.humanitix.com/how-20-000km-on-the-bike-helped-me-to-believe-in-magic each ticket gets you a complimentary pint of beer.

  1. On a recent bicycle excursion to Alice Springs I met up with (at different times) three other cyclist. Two of these (Max the French ‘Flash Biker’ & Marcus, the German rocket man) were on a quest to reach Uluru as fast as they could.
While i understand the compulsion to undertake such physical and mental challenges, I was beginning to wonder if anyone these days(given the bikepacking fashion of going faster and lighter), enjoyed riding at a more relaxed pace, appreciating the wildlife and scenery as they went.
It was really reassuring then to meet Frazer, ambling along through the Flinders Ranges, with a sprig of gum leaves attached to his handlebars. These were a memento of his encounter with some Bourke’s Parrots who had been fluttering around above him while he reclined in the shade of a tree.
