We’ve been doing custom builds on Velo Orange frames almost as long as we’ve been open – their classic aesthetic with modern touches has always been appealing to us. Sharing both old world charm with all the modern convenience of thru axles and disc brakes makes for a really functional and beautiful bicycle.
There’s a few new colourways currently available in a few models so I thought I’d take the opportunity to give a bit of a run down on their offerings and some of the builds we’ve done over the years.
Rando
After a long hiatus the Rando returns to the VO stable and is currently available for pre-order.
Pre order here: https://offcourse.bike/product/velo-orange-rando-frameset-pre-order/
Polyvalent
This beautiful new colourway (glacier metallic blue) is quite stunning, offered in both straight and drop top tube. These bikes offer thru axles, all the cargo and fender mounts one could ever need, and option to run 650b or 700c wheels meaning its versatility covers anything from grocery getter to world tourer! https://offcourse.bike/product/velo-orange-polyvalent-low-kicker/
Neutrino
Some would argue nothing brings a bigger smile to ones face than a Mini-Velo! The Neutrino gives fun BMX like handling to a stylish little package, meaning you can hide the fact you’re still a teenager at heart when you rock up to the office on one! With 3 sizes available the Neutrino can fit anyone from 4ft to 6 ft. We’ve done some really fun builds and no matter who you put on one they’ve always come back with a huge grin on their face!
Now available in hot pink the new colourway of the Neutrino might just be the bike you’re missing in your quiver or the one your hoping to store in your apartment. If you’re lucky you can still get a Pistachio colourway on sale but if Pink is more your vibe then send us an email and we can get one in with the next order. https://offcourse.bike/product/velo-orange-neutrino-mini-velo-frame/
Passhunter
The Passhunter got a modern refresh a few years ago with flat mount brakes and thru axles making it a very appealing gravel bike. All over the frameset are some really nice touches, the more you investigate the more you find. The first thing you notice is the lovely wishbone seat stay, it frames a 650b wheel beautifully, there’s even a blind bolt hole for fender mounting. The 12mm fork is tapered with a plated underside for easy rack and fender integration. The tapered 34-44mm headtube means you can run lots of carbon fork offerings. The frameset will easily accommodate 650x48mm tyres and fenders but if you are looking to go 700c it maxes out at 32mm. If you are looking for classic styled all road gravel bike then this is worth consideration.
The new black sparkle colour sold out so quickly we didn’t get our hands on any, but don’t fret we’ve got limited stock of both blue and burgundy on sale at the moment.
Piolet
Named after the French word for a mountaineers ice-pick, it’s a nod to it’s versatility, especially when the terrain gets rough! Now in it’s second iteration the Piolet got a bit of a geometry tweak to make it a little more playful on rougher trails. It still retains some traditional touring standards such as quick release wheels and adequate mounts for racks and cargo cages. You can opt for either 29 inch or 27.5+ wheels up to 2.4 and 2.8 inches respectively. As an all round touring bike this bike is hard to beat, we’ve built them up as everything from tough commuters, and fully kitted out expedition bikes to ride the Bolivian Altiplano and the Pamir highway.
We are a bit biased, but Kia’s “Kiolet” Piolet below is probably one of the nicest ones getting around. She did a fantastic job of picking parts that are aesthetically pleasing and incredibly tough and up for the rigours of the tours she takes it on.
Below is Jody’s Piolet, one of the first we built back in 2015. Its since had a Rohloff conversion, several other iterations including flatbars and has seen many tours across Europe and Central Australia.
Piolets are currently sold out but more are due soon and come highly recommend from real world use.
If you’ve got any questions about getting on a Velo Orange bike get in touch.
Hello,
Can you guys still get the small-sized Neutrino frameset in Pistachio colour?
Thanks & Regards,
Ryan
Sorry, all sold out!
