Rising from the ashes – July Update

We’re back! Operating from our pop-up location on Leslie St, at the rear of 21 Prentice St.

For those who don’t know, our 14 Prentice St address, which had been home for 18 years, was gutted by a fire on the evening of Wednesday May 27th. The fire started internally around 9:30pm, quickly engulfing and ultimately destroying all the contents. Thankfully no-one was hurt, and the fire fighters were able to contain the blaze to our building. Fire investigators have confirmed that it was “not suspicious” in any way, but have been unable to determine the cause.

We’ve lost a huge amount of stock, and our workshop and retail space was completely destroyed. Fortunately, we do have some extra storage, right across the road, so we still have some stock, and we have a space to work from while we figure out what’s next. It’s going to be a long process, but we’re determined to come back as strong as ever.

For now, we’re operating on Leslie St, at the rear of 21 Prentice St (opposite Wick Studios).

We’ve got bikes ready to test ride, a small selection of stock, and the webstore is online and shipping as usual. The stock we have can be found by using the ‘Available in-store’ filter on our webstore. We’re also set up to order on-demand from a couple of our suppliers. We’ll be working as hard as we can to re-stock our favourites, so keep an eye on the webstore as things come back in-stock.

We have been completely overwhelmed by the love, support, and kindness we’ve received from our community. Locally we’ve had folks bring us food, coffee, beers, and we’ve received lovely and heartfelt messages from all over the world. We have been reading your messages, we won’t be able to reply to everyone, but we do really appreciate them.

Lots of folks are asking what they can do to help. You can:

• Come by our pop-up location, and say hi, have a little browse and pick up some essentials.
• If we have something you need on our webstore, pop an order in.
• You can buy yourself a gift card, to put towards your next service or ready for when we re-stock what you need.
• Get in touch about a new bike. We’ve got some great build kits on the way for our house builds on Wilde and Tumbleweed frames, some great bikes still in stock, or let us know your custom build dreams.

There were so many happy memories, and so much love and work went into the shop at 14 Prentice St. But the people, both staff and customers who made it what it was, are still here, and we look forward to making our next chapter the best one yet.
