Gear Shifters

Here at Off Course we keep a wide selection of gear-shifters from Shimano, SRAM, MicroShift and even a few smaller brands!

When shifter shopping, keep these factors in mind:

Gear Combination:
Shifters are very specific! Make sure the shifter you have selected is for the exact same combination of gears you are running on your bike.

Pull Ratio:
Gear shifters work in partnership with the derailleur to shift your gears, and pull a specific length of cable per shift. Different shifters pull different lengths of cable, depending on brand, your combination of gears and style of riding. Correctly matching the pull-ratio of your shifter and derailleur is essential for smooth shifting.

Cross-Compatibility:
In general, cross-compatibility between brands (and sometimes within brands) can be pretty confusing in the bike industry. Even if you think you’ve found the right shifter based on the factors above, if the parts are from different series (i.e, Shimano 105 and Shimano Dura Ace 2×11) it’s worth double-checking compatibility. You can get in touch with us here at Off Course if you’re unsure.
