As a crucial load-bearing surface in your headset, it is important to select a crown race of high quality and appropriate fit for both your headset and fork.

Common sizes on modern bikes include 30mm for standard straight-steerer 1 1/8″ forks, or 40mm for tapered forks. Crown races must also match the bearings of your headset, so be sure to check compatibility with us if you’re unsure.

Crown race reducers allow you to mate slimmer forks to headsets designed for something broader. For example, you may have a mountain bike running a 1 1/2″ headtube, but want to use a rigid, straight 1 1/8″ fork for bikepacking. To enable this, you’ll need a crown race reducer, which allows the surfaces of your fork crown and lower headset bearing to engage correctly.
