Seatposts

We keep one of Melbourne’s best selections of seatposts from Thomson, Paul, Ritchey and others to make sure you’re comfortable and your bike looks a million bucks!

Seatpost Sizing

Seatpost Diameter

Seatposts need to fit your bike frame. Common diameters include 27.2mm for most road/commuter bikes and 30.9, 31.6 or 34.9mm for mountain bikes, but there are a lot of odd sizes too.

Seatpost Setback/Offset

This is the amount by which the saddle clamp is offset backwards from the seatpost itself. Most seatposts have 20-30mm of offset, but zero offset are also common. If your bike fit isn’t quite right, changing the seatpost to one with a different offset is a common way to move you either further back or further forward on the bike.

Seatpost Length

Most seatposts are around 300-400mm long, which provides a good amount of height adjustability along with plenty of insertion into the frame. Almost all posts will be marked with a ‘minimum insertion depth’ mark which indicates the maximum safe height of the seatpost.
