The ultimate tire for bikepacking and gravel adventures – and recipient of Bikepacking.com’s coveted ‘Gear of the Year’ award for the ‘Best New Component.’ Developed together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, the Fleecer Ridge measures 29″ x 2.2″ (or 700C x 55 mm), making it a perfect fit for bikepacking bikes.
We name our tires after the passes that inspire them: Fleecer Ridge is the toughest climb on the incredible Tour Divide that traverses the Rocky Mountains from Canada to the Mexican border. On a ride that long, you’ll need a tire that can handle a huge range of conditions, from deep snow and mud via fast gravel to pavement as you descend into towns to resupply.
The Fleecer Ridge grips like a knobby when conditions get tough. On pavement, it rolls like a slick tire thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The Fleecer Ridge is the world’s first bicycle tire with noise cancellation:
The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. The Extralight casing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Endurance casing is reinforced for extra sidewall protection and puncture resistance, while retaining the speed and comfort for which Rene Herse tires are famous. The Endurance Plus casing provides the ultimate in sidewall protection for extremely tough conditions.
TUBELESS & SEALANT RECOMMENDATION:
This tyre is tubeless-compatible, however if running tubeless on Rene Herse tyres we find the extralight casing can be tricky to set up and maintain, but the standard, endurance and endurance plus casings work well. We recommend using Orange Seal sealant. Check out Rene Herse's guide to setting up tubeless tyres here.

I’m running the Fleecer ridge on my dual sus carbon Giant Anthem which I now mainly use for gravel and they are fantastic. Super fast and quiet and barely notice the change in rolling resistance from road to gravel. Have them in the endurance casing and have also had them out on XC single track with no issue. Great piece of gear!

Needed something knobby for my commuter bike since my part of route has gravel & muddy sections. Was running regular treads before & was pleasantly surprised how well this tyre grips especially around tight corners. Was expecting some resistance from the tread but there’s barely any. Would recommend, especially for those who need a good set of tyres for bike packing, gravel, or even a high quality commuter tyre
