A road-centric knobby? A dirt-ready road tire? You decide! At 48 mm wide, the Oracle Ridge hits the sweet spot between narrow gravel tire (38 mm) and mountain bike volume (55 mm) – ideal for the latest generation of gravel and all-road bikes.

We’ve developed the Oracle Ridge together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, and we’ve named it after one of Lael’s favorite routes: Oracle Ridge is a beautiful gravel climb outside Tucson, AZ, which connects to the backside of Mount Lemmon for an ultra-fast descent on pavement.

On the gravel climb, this tire grips tenaciously thanks to its large and widely spaced knobs. On the descent,  it corners like a slick thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road.

The Oracle Ridge features our noise cancellation technology: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. The Oracle Ridge’s speed, grip and lack of noise make you forget you’re riding a knobby – until you hit some loose or muddy ground and appreciate the extra grip.

The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. The Extralight casing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Endurance casing is reinforced for extra sidewall protection and puncture resistance, while retaining the speed and comfort for which Rene Herse tires are famous. The Endurance Plus casing provides the ultimate in sidewall protection for extremely tough conditions.

SEALANT RECOMMENDATION:

This tyre is tubeless-compatible. If running tubeless on Rene Herse tyres we recommend using Orange Seal sealant with these tyres. Check out Rene Herse’s guide to setting up tubeless tyres here.

Used the Extra Lights on my Giant Revolt for a mainly dry gravel/dirt event. Confidence inspiring on gravel and worked fine on wet muddy sections. They roll pretty well on tarmac, too, no squirming around or ‘falling off’ the the side knobs when cornering.
Ended up running tubes as they were so loose a fit on my Giant wheels there was no way they would seal tubeless without adding layers of rim tape. Not a big deal as I’ll take them off again for just knocking around. At $300 a pair they’re definitely an ‘event’ tyre. Recommended, though.

This is my third Rene Herse set (others are Umtanum Ridge and Bon Jon Pass). Unlike the first two these installed easily on the Shimano MT600 wheels. I did need to first install them with tubes and leave overnight. But then it went smoothly and popped on at the first go. Of course i used a Giant tank. I am using them with Orange Sealant and Supacaz valves.
The real width is 49.5mm and in a week (like the Umtanum Ridge) they drop only 1psi, which is more than I can say for the Bon Jon Pass which used to lose around 4psi a week.
The tyres ride amazingly well. They hum a little but that’s really the only reminder of them having knobs. They feel effortlessly fast and nimble and grip great both on dirt, grass and pavement.
And i think they look great. Most of my friends think the same.
Really my only gripe is their rather high price. I’m willing to pay this but I know many who’d benefit from these tyres but who can’t justify their cost.
