Anthony Davidson –
I used a flat XC bar for over 20 years, but more recently I’ve stepped up the mileage and found my hands would go numb. I think my bike fit is good, but I may have acquired some minor nerve damage from long rough rides. So I tried these out, and haven’t had a problem since, even on a 160km steep, rough day. I had to slam and flip my stem, as well as trim the bars by 70mm, but I think that speaks more of versatility than anything – someone broader than me might appreciate the extra width, and as I age I may appreciate being able to raise my bar further. Overall I think it shortened my reach by about 20mm, so I can’t honestly discount that as a possible cause. My bar ends work (any more backsweep and they wouldn’t). I’m calling it a winner.
