Teravail Coronado Tyre

$75.00

From the dry, vast deserts that cover the Southwest to the seemingly endless stretches of beach running up the Pacific Northwest coast, the Coronado was designed to excel in terrain where sand would normally be a hindrance and increased floatation is critical.

The 27.5 x 3″ Coronado offers the best of multiple worlds. You get the increased ground clearance, stability, and angular momentum of a 29er plus the larger footprint and floatation that a 3″ wide tire offers. A mild and open center tread works with the slightly more aggressive side knobs to offer traction and efficiency in sandy terrain.

When extra puncture protection isn’t necessary, our light and supple casing offers decreased weight and a comfortable, ultra-supple ride quality at lower pressures when set up tubeless.

Purchased multiple 27.5×3” ‘durable’ compound and 29×3” ‘light and supple’ compound tyres to replace Duro Crux 3.25” and Bontrager XR2 3” tyres respectively (those tyres are no longer available in my preferred widths). Using them on two different wheelsets for a Focus Jarifa2 e-bike. Mounted up tubeless on WTB and DT Swiss rims easily. The tread pattern sits nicely between the XR2 and a Maxxis Rekon (another 29×2.8” tyre that I have purchased but not yet tried on the bike). So far, I’m very happy with the grip and rolling resistance. Durability for both also seems fine at this early stage. I plan to get the 29” tyre in durable compound once they become available and run that on the rear (because the e-bike chews through rear tyres at a rapid rate) with the light and supple on the front. Given the shortage of plus-sized tyres these days, I’m grateful to have an option in these widths and think the Teravail Coronado tyres will be my go-to tyre – as long as they keep making them (and they are available in Australia)!

Commuter put the 27.5 x 3 light and supple on my custom karate monkey a few years ago. I have ridden mtb in Tas and alice springs and also completed the mawson trail bikepacking with them. Reliable, light weight and surprisingly hard wearing! I have just bought another set! Highly recommend!
