The 700 x 38 Rutland is the lowest volume offering in the line providing riders with a firmer more responsive ride. Higher tire pressure allows it to roll more easily on smoother surfaces.
Our 700c x 42 Rutland has the longest outer diameter of the Rutland family allowing it to easily roll over larger debris in your path. The 42c width fits modern disc geometry frames to add even more comfort.
The 650 x 47 size is our largest volume Rutland in the line giving riders the most supple ride feel and largest contact patch for increase traction. The 47c width fits modern disc geometry frames to add even more comfort.
LIGHT & SUPPLE
When extra puncture protection isn’t necessary, our light and supple casing offers decreased weight and a comfortable, ultra-supple ride quality at lower pressures when set up tubeless.
DURABLE BEAD-TO-BEAD
This construction consists of a robust woven nylon composite reinforcement between the outer rubber and the inner casing within the tire’s sidewalls to prevent tearing and abrasions. Additionally, a tightly woven layer of protection under the treadcap defends against punctures.

Bought some 2.1 /650b / durable side wall versions. They are surprisingly fast on tarmac, and hold up well on technical singletrack if the need arises. Used them on the Goldfields track, they were great. Side walls held up over sharp rocky terrain, but never fwlt dead. Highly recommend.

I was recommended these for my Merida Crossway Urban 400 (budget friendly flatbar road/commuter) as a versatile bikepacking, on/offroad, singletrack option. I installed them last night and decided to ride to the local mtb park (Montgomery Loop, Dial Range, Tasmania) to give them a go. I ended up completing around every green trail in the park and some blue/intermediate tracks, only stopping once the track went vertical to avoid any unintentional somersaults! Prior to this I’ve never experienced a MTB track (I come from a road touring/commuting background), but these tyres provided the grip and confidence to tackle anything (I’m surprised I didn’t end up in a tree!). I’m looking forward to loading the bike up for some longer adventures with these, at a more reasonable pace.
I went with the Durable 700C X 42mm version to be on the safe side, although the 47mm would potentially fit too.
