The Thomson G2 stem is a complete structural redesign of our popular X2 road stem. The G2 is stronger in all the right spots, without adding bulk. Machined from a single block of 7000 series aluminum, the G2 is lightweight and solid for any riding style — from fast road bikes to all-day gravel machines.

Can I flip a Thomson stem?

Yes. The G2 has a 10° angle and can be installed for a higher or lower bar position.

Can the G2 stem be used on a mountain bike?

No. The G2 is built for road and gravel bikes. It’s not designed for the forces of mountain biking.

Are the new G2 stem parts backwards compatible?

No. The G2’s faceplate and hardware are not compatible with pre-2022 X2 stems.

Is the G2 stem safe for carbon fiber?

Yes. The G2 works with carbon handlebars and steerer tubes. Just follow the torque instructions carefully.

What is the stack height of the G2 stem?

36mm

Can I use aero bars with this stem?

Yes. The slim faceplate and narrow clamp area allow room for clip-on aero bars.
